Barcelona – Apple Co -founder Steve Wozniak criticized the “Sledgehammer” approach Elon Musk’s approach to government efficiency has taken to reduce administrative costs and the implementation of mass fires in federal government agencies.
The Government Efficiency Department – or “Doge”, for February – is an initiative President Donald Trump set up to optimize the federal government and shorten its administrative expenses.
“I definitely think we have to seek inefficiency in the government, but very much we have a great department that analyzes little by little,” Wozniak CNBC told the margins of a technology conference on Tuesday.
But he added, “only massive fires … it’s not good for a business to run that way,” referring to the deep doge cuts at some government agencies. “Really really to find out what works and what not, make the changes.”
He noted that, although addressing administrative loads and red straps in government may be a good thing, is a process that should be done “more surgically, with a scales instead of a sledgehammer”.
‘Bullying’
Wozniak also accused Trump and Musk of “harassment” of US treatment against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Mass Fire of the Government Efficiency Department at Federal Government agencies.
“Elon Musk, I don’t know what went into his head,” Wozniak added. “Sometimes you become so rich with these big companies, and you are at the top – goes to your head, and you are the most incredible person in the world and brighter and you will dictate what others will do.”
CNBC has reached the White House and Tesla for comment.
Wozniak, who says he has a Ukrainian heritage, said Trump and Musk have mistreated Ukraine and accused them of both being harassed.
“Bullying is the best way to think about it,” he told CNBC. “If you are in school, the harassener will force their way to the little boy.”
He noted, “I have always favored the little boy over the big boy, and I have always favored the consumer of a good on the manufacturer,” he added, in a noticeable reference to Musk -Tesla’s Musk car.
American relations with Ukraine have shed since Trump took office. US officials have restored relations with their Russian-but counterparts excluded Ukraine from the preliminary talks that laid the groundwork for peace. Tensions between Washington and Kyiv recently escalated after Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described Trump as “living in a Russian misinformation bubble”.
Trump then hit again, calling the Ukrainian leader a “dictator without choice”. Zelenskyy won the 2019 presidential vote Ukraine, which has not been able to conduct national surveys since its occupation.
‘On the wrong side of Elon’
Wozniak said he also suspects that he was banned from X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter after several public frauds for the quality of Tesla vehicles in TV interviews. Musk is the owner of X.
Apple’s co -founder said he had not violated any of the rules of the social media platform and has taken unsuccessfully every step to not rub his account, which he says has been blocked for the last two to three months.
“Maybe that’s because I was on Elon’s wrong side,” he added.
X was not immediately available for comment when contacted by CNBC.
Wozniak owns some teslas but says he is not a fan of how musk electric vehicles have evolved over time.
“Stepdo step forward where they changed things in the car, worsened and worse and worse, and now it’s just miserable for the user interface,” he said. “Coming from Apple, user interface, the way you deal with technology is the most important thing in the world to me. And Tesla is the worst in the world at the time.”
Wozniak added that he does not like the features of the full aid of the Tesla or Autopilot self -direction, due to system security concerns.
Tesla did not immediately return a CNBC request for commentary on Wozniak’s criticism of the company.
