Omaha area schools, businesses announce closures, delays for Blizzard conditions
And essentially throughout the rest of the day, especially this morning, seeing the potential for 50 to 60 miles per hour with wind gusts to continue. So we still have that high wind warning that is in force until noon. And with that, no longer in an unclear warning, but a winter weather counseling continues for the Far East Nebraska for the potential to inflate snow that goes up to 8am, with Blizzard warnings still continuing. Carroll down across Creston, the area of des moines, in the Central Iowa, the most heavy snow bands over the Metro des Moines now. So the most widespread as the conditions from Adair to des Moines traveling I-80 between Omaha and des Moines this morning. It is very harsh. But here, within the last half -hour, 45 minutes after we saw the falling snow moving out, we saw a narrow snow gang immediately developed along the Missuri River, moving on the east side of Omeha’s Metro -Fort Calhoun through Omaha, down through the Ralston papillion la vista where you see these dark Grays. We could get a short blizzard as conditions here as we move to the other half or 45 minutes, so we expect the visibility to fall again because we are still seeing the ERA gusts 40 to 60mph. I mean, look at this view of the camera. This is by Fairfield Inn. This is I-680 just near Blair High Road. I mean, the camera is shaking. You can see that snow blowing throughout the state there. So again, it is harsh to come here now with that snow band that moves through temperatures in the 20s much below freezing. Anything that was slow is likely to be frozen if left untreated. But you can see that they feel like the temperature in the single figures in most points because it smells that finally gets 40 to 60mph. Update EPpley 46mph close to 60 at Lincoln Airport. So, even where the snow is down, it can still get a brief decrease in visibility as we are seeing here in Columbus. Less than two miles of Beatrice less than two miles because we have possible Blizzard conditions with that snow blowing and the extreme smell where the snow is falling, we are seeing the visibility falls back into eppley down in two miles. Half -mile visibility in Denison, zero visibility. Recent report in Carroll, Iowa. So again, more like similar conditions. Carroll Atlantic towards the des mines area where we are seeing most of that snow now. But the wind will not really give up at all during the day today and especially this morning. Still cut those gusta of wind between 50 and 60mph and then during the afternoon about 40mph. And then eventually as we approach the sunset, closer to 30mph. And then overnight tonight, we will finally see the wind calm down. So the storm forecaster here this morning again from 7:00 again, the group that is above us has to stir out. Could still see some elongated snow falling back with possible possible conditions in central Iowa. The clouds will be cleaned to the west, starting to move to the east as we progress over the rest of the morning. So wait more sun as the day continues. But again, with that smell continuing the potential of the snow still blowing there, especially during the morning, but could still continue in the afternoon. Temperatures are likely to drop by the mid -30s for most, and we can push closer to 40 outside of York Lincoln down to Beatrice, where there is little less snow cover on the ground. Now quiet, quiet overnight. I’m talking about five miles per hour. We’ll get it. It will be a cooler start on Thursday. We’ll see. Increasing the cloud cover, temperatures above freezing, so some of that snow should melt, but could see some stained showers as we spend the afternoon and evenings. But then we will see for Thursday evening on Friday morning with temperatures suspended. The freezing sign can take a snowfall by changing in light snow as we cross on Friday morning, so it could be another influential car on Friday morning, where we can see 1 to 3in around and north of the I-80 corridor with perhaps just a dust in the south. So another fast snow hit along the way before the week is passing. So we have a heavy icon for that high wind warning. The potential of the snow blowing continues here today than another snow shot on Friday. And then well we accept ahead this weekend. And how to jump in the spring because the sun shines back and then we are talking about the 60s upper temperatures, flirting with 70 degrees next week. But it will still be really harsh going here this morning with that smell. Only excess 40 to 60mph. And still here, especially during the other half in Metro Omaha with the other Sn
